Helen Grocott 'Living With' the UPPAbaby Cruz
My name is Helen, I live in St Helens, Merseyside but originally hail from Stoke-on-Trent. I live with my partner Simon and out two Alsations, Hector and Kittie.
We're first time parents to Eva who is quickly approaching her 1st birthday. Eva takes up most of our time and keeps us on our toes, it's a massive learning curve but we're both loving every minute! When not at work I enjoy getting out and about as much as possible and showing Eva the world, as well as reading (when I get a minute to myself!), watching films and meeting up with my friends. I can't wait to get my hands on the Cruz and live with it for a whole year!

I was very excited to receive an email about the Cruz today and couldn't wait for it to be delivered! I was even more excited to find a note tacked to the front door when I got home to say delivery had already been attempted. One quick call later and we were on the way to pick up the parcel from the depot.
The pushchair box was very compact, with a handy carry handle and was really pleased that the box fit in the boot and we could unpack all the bits properly at home.
Tonight the bedtime routine seemed to take forever as I was itching to open up my new toy! Finally Eva was all tucked up and fast asleep and I could start unpacking!
Inside the box we had the frame, with seat already attached, the four wheels, canopy, rain over and insect net.
There was one catch to undo and the frame opened out easily, two clicks to attach the canopy and the wheels slotted on simply, all in all I'd say assembly took about five minutes, it probably took longer to take the packaging off!
The Cruz is very impressive, the yellow is striking and I think it'll make the pushchair really stand out in the crowd! There are many different things that can be adjusted i.e the seat recline, hood position, foot rest, sun canopy and handle which I'm hoping will make it really easy to get baby comfy and make it easy to push.
First impression is that the Cruz is very tall, the seat is long and high up which will be good for Eva as she's taking after her 6ft 5 daddy in the height department, Daddy was also very taken with the handle height and the (massive) basket was set in so he wouldn't kick it whilst walking. All in all we are all very excited to get out and about with our new wheels!
Eva had her first ride in the Cruz today, she looked really comfy and had a lot of growing room even though she's quite tall. We loved the parent facing seat as Eva has always been forward facing and she was full of smiles letting us know that she loved it too!
September the 11th 2012
Daddy had his first turn pushing around the supermarket today, well we literally fought each other to take turns pushing! He was really impressed with the handle height, even being 6ft5 he was able to push comfortably without stooping and the basket was far back enough there was no risk of him kicking it (we both used to knock the break on with the old pushchair).
September the 14th 2012
We've had some gorgeous weather recently so it's been a great
opportunity to test the sunshade, it's really big and covers baby up
really well, it does come down a bit far when parent facing thought and I
couldn't see Eva's face!
I had to step right back when holding the handle to be able to see her. We haven't tried it forward facing yet, but wonder how much Eva will be able to see if we needed to pull it right down.
September the 18th 2012
Beautiful weather again today so we had a walk to the park for a picnic,
it was surprisingly hot for September so we opened up the window in the
hood to get a bit of a draft going!
The flap does have a handy toggle to tie the window up (not shown) but also stays in place on top. It was really good both to get some air going as Eva was getting a bit stuffy and for checking if she was ok forward facing, she enjoyed being able to look back at daddy as well!
September the 23rd 2012
Took the Cruz out to the shopping centre this weekend. I was a bit dubious about going at the weekend with the crowds but the pushchair handled really well weaving in and out and jumping out of people's way! It was smooth ride for Eva and it was really easy to turn so we could get round all the tight corners in shops!
In a moment of madness we braved the next sale, it was even easy to get round all the crazy bargain hunters there, needless to say it was too busy and a straight in straight out!
September the 29th 2012
The Cruz went in the car for the first time today. The pushchair was
pretty easy to carry with a handle on the side, but I was struck by how
heavy it was! It may well be that I'm used to carrying the smaller Zia+4
around and the Cruz has a bigger sturdier frame but I was taken aback!
I'm pretty sure I'll get used to it!
The Cruz fit well in the boot too, well just about so, I was worried it wouldn't fit with the wheels on as the box had fitted in so well. I'll have to see how we fair with shopping as well though. Maybe this will be the perfect excuse to persuade the other half we need a new car...
Eva found the uv sun shade today!
It wasn't bright enough that we needed to use it but she managed to find it tucked underneath the hood and pull it out. The supports in the extra shade aren't as rigid as the main hood so there's no chance she could snap the rods and she had great fun playing peekaboo behind it!
October the 8th 2012
We put the UPPAbaby's massive shopping basket through its paces today.
We purposely didn't pick up a basket to see how much of our weekends
shops we could fit it, although a standard tesco shopping basket does
fit underneath the pram!
As you can see we managed to get everything in with room to spare, including two litres of pop and a four pint bottle of milk (and a sneaky bottle of wine!)
October the 15th 2012
Out in the park today, which has a little petting zoo included. We had the Cruz forward facing so Eva could see all the animals, the seat is really high up as well so she didn't miss anything. Usually I'm worried that she's too low down and just getting a good view of the fence but today she had an excellent view and she loved every minute (especially the chickens!)
Been playing about with the adjustable seat today, the foot rest of the seat can be put up to 180 degrees to create a little platform.
October the 23rd 2012
Out today with my nephew Gabriel who is fourteen months old, he's new to toddling so borrowed the Cruz for a bit of a rest he really enjoyed it! My sister found it easy to recline him with one hand and he had loads of room even though he's a big boy!
October the 26th 2012
We finally got to use the rain cover! So far have managed to miss the
all too frequent showers! We keep the rain cover in the basket of the
pushchair which is so big it doesn't make a difference as it hardly
takes up any space at all.
It was really easy to fit over the pushchair but we couldn't decide which way it went over the hood, there is a flap that opens up to get to baby and we couldn't make up our minds if this went over the front or back, where there is the window in the back.
Then there were Velcro strips either side to keep it secured to the foot
rest, all in all it took about three mins to fit (which would've been
less if we'd got it the right way round to begin) very easy to manage if
the heavens suddenly open!
October the 29th 2012
The UV hood is still coming in useful even though the temperature has somewhat dropped of late! Eva was asleep in the car and quickly transferred into the pushchair, she didn't wake up when put in the pram which is always a bonus and the hood kept the bright sun out of her eyes while she slept on!
Eva finds the Cruz really comfy as you can see from the above picture,
she finds it really easy to relax. The parent facing option is also
really good for when she's tired and likes to see where mum and dad are!
November the 8th 2012
Testing out the pushchair on the grass today, usually with pushchairs we've had in the past I've had quite a lot of resistance and it's taken a lot more effort to push. The Cruz felt a lot easier and I didn't have to exert myself too much!
November the 11th 2012
We were out visiting today so there was no where for Eva to take a nap, so we set up the Cruz for a walk around the block. The recline is really easy to use, just a button at the back then the seat mover back into loads of different positions, it lies back flat as well, which is ideal for a nap and Eva looked really relaxed!
November the 15th 2012
We're finding increasing ingenious ways of fitting shopping into the car
boot with the Cruz as well! Bags are being squished, balanced and
packed around the pushchair frame. Sometimes now when I go for a big
shop we have to leave it at home to make the most of our small car boot.
November the 18th 2012
This weekend we decided to take a day trip to the Manchester Christmas
markets, we decided to make a proper day of it and take the train. I was
a bit apprehensive at first as it was properly my first time on public
transport in about four years and certainly my first time with a pram,
so with absolutely no idea of pram etiquette on trains, off we set....
We set off walking to the station with Eva in forward facing mode, she had a lot of fun shouting at passers by and waving at cars...
Next challenge was at the station as we were faced by quite a lot of
stairs... However a good lot of ramps as well, something I'd never
really considered looking for when getting the train before. The staff
were really helpful in pointing us in the right direction!
Eva waiting for the train.
When the train arrived we were beckoned to the last carriage by the extremely helpful guard who lifted us up into the train, so far so good, the Cruz was lifted really easily onto the train. There were quite big disabled bays to park the pushchair in and they were all free with seats to sit next to Eva as well. The Cruz has a really good break on it and it held really well with the motion of the train.
Eva obviously wasn't bothered by the motion of the train and was soon asleep!
When we arrived the conductor helped us off the train again (I could easily get used to all this assistance) and pointed us in the direction of the lifts. All in all was really easy managing on the train helped by the fact that the Cruz is easy to manoeuvre through crowds etc.
Eva is really comfortable in the Cruz and sat really well in her pushchair throughout the day, forward facing really helped as she had great views of all the stalls, lights and people.
By the end of the day she was getting a bit restless and tired but a quick flip round into parent facing mode and she was much happier being able to see mum and dad. Switching round from facing one way to another is very quick and easy as well!
All in all a very successful day and a baby very happy with her pushchair.
November the 23rd 2012
It's getting increasingly cold as the days go on and we're wrapping Eva up more and more when out, I think the time is approaching to invest in a cosy toes for our Cruz!
November the 26th 2012
We were testing the Cruz out on some rough terrain in the park today. We were off-roading over some pretty bumpy paths, the shock absorbing wheels held out really well and Eva had a really comfortable ride, she didn't seem to be bothered about the uneven path. It was also really easy to push, not too much difference from going over smoother surfaces!
Simon was in charge of the pushchair today and as you can see he enjoys
being out with the Cruz! The adjustable handle make it really easy for
him as it means he doesn't have to stoop down to push. We had a
lot of uneven cobbled ground to go over as well and he said that it
didn't affect the pushing of the Cruz and Eva remained looking as
comfortable as ever.
December the 10th 2012
Eva's latest game is to push her own pushchair whilst out! The foot rest is just the right height for her to hold on to, but it does make a journey twice as long....
December the 12th 2012
Shopping again today, managed to get four full carrier bags in the shopping basket!
Really, really impressed about the storage space with the pushchair I don't have to worry about pushing with one hand as so far I've always been able to get all my bags etc in the basket!
Demember the 15th 2012
We took a trip to IKEA this weekend to buy our Christmas tree!
The Cruz was great to navigate round various displays of soft furnishings and scented candles. It handled really well through the crowds as well!
The Cruz is really manageable to turn in a small space and easy to push one handed as well, so the trip was stress free as well as purse friendly!
December the 18th 2012
The rain cover is seeing a lot of action this week! Eva loves the breathable window in the front to look out at the weather. It makes it a lot easier to check on her as well. We've managed to not get completely soaked while fitting the cover as well as its it really easy to fit, the massive basket is a good holding place for it when we move indoors as Eva will scream until its taken off...
December the 28th 2012
We've been a bit hectic over the Christmas period, lots of visiting, lots of long days and a lot of over excitement. Luckily we've had the Cruz for Eva to use to take a nap when we've been out for the day. She's also comfortable sneaking off for a quick rest in the Cruz, this is how we found her in her aunties kitchen...
December the 29th 2012
Well, we've finally got round to getting ourselves a new car! There are few days to wait until we pick up our new wheels but as ours is on its last legs the dealers have been kind enough to loan us a car while we wait. Currently we're driving a Kia rio, as you can see from the pic there's loads more room to fit in the Cruz and it leaves us a lot more room for bags. If we were using a carrycot I think we'd be a bit more pushed for space but upgrading from a micra the space we have now is just amazing!
So, another call from the car dealer today, they have someone interested in buying the Kia, so they lent us a car, again they have been more than accommodating and given us a vauxhall vectra to borrow! This cars boot is, well, just vast! There is masses of space and I think I could probably squeeze three cruz's in there at a push!
January the 16th 2013
The Cruz is still proving a hit in the comfort stakes, the seat is really padded, the various reclines and the ability to adjust the footrest make it really easy to make your baby/toddler really content and get some well needed sleep!
January the 21st 2013
We have had snow! (like most people I'm sure!)
We were lucky enough to have the day off and be able to get out walking in the snow, Eva was really not impressed with the weather so we were thankful to be able to bundle her up in the pushchair.
We had around about an inch in some places but I found the Cruz very easy to push. I didn't have the chance to take my last pushchair out in the snow so aren't able to make a direct comparison, there was obviously some resistance but it still handled well round corners and as it is hard light to push didn't require much extra effort.
January the 26th 2013
We've fitted the Cruz with a Mothercare own cosy toes to keep Eva warm in this run of bad weather. I would've love the UPPAbaby baby ganoosh as it keeps baby warm at temps as low as -6 so eva would certainly be snug but at almost £80.00 it was just a bit too much to justify. They also do a 'strollerblankie' which whilst a lot more affordable, looked a bit thin.
We have been to the zoo recently and the Cruz was a great vantage point
for Eva to see all the animals. As you can see in the photo there are
plenty of cut always in the enclosures for small children to view but
she would've been high enough up, to see the majority of things.
The pushchair handled really well over a variety of terrains as well, grass, paved paths, gravel and wooden walk ways, none were a problem and made getting around through the day very easy.
Eva has been getting out more and more to walk just lately but she still loves retreating back into her seat once she gets tired, we had a torrential downpour later on into the afternoon and she was perfectly happy jumping back in to snuggle up under the rain cover and nod off!
February the 14th 2013
I've finally got around to taking a pic of the Cruz in our megane boot (the car we're finally sticking with)
It is a better fit than it looks in the picture, there are about three hundred bags for life underneath it as well as other car related bits and bobs so we have plenty of room for other things in the boot. It's a really great fit as well so it can just be placed in rather than having to wedge it in to a very small space.
February the 17th 2013
Took another day out on the train today. The basket was packed full but
there were no problems getting the Cruz up on to the train as its still
really light when carrying all out bits and bobs and easy to manoeuvre
up and down.
Eva loves the 'world facing' mode as well as shes able to see everywhere that we're going, wave to everyone else on the train and browse the Metro.
The compact nature of the Cruz was a god sent on the way back as well as the fold down seats were taken next to pram area and we had to slot in next to where other people were sitting it doesn't take up a great deal of room, Eva on the other hand was less than impressed...
February the 28th 2013
Over the months the light yellow hood has picked up a few stains from
general wear and tear. I've really cleaned a pushchair before so sent a
quick email to people at UPPAbaby who advised just to use some warm
soapy water to sponge clean.
It did take quite a bit of elbow grease to get the marks off but I think that was probably down to the nature of the stain rather than anything to do with the material of the hood.
After about fifteen minutes work we are looking nearly as good as new, but think it'll probably need another going over once it's properly dry.
It's getting milder in the evenings so me and Eva joined Simon on his evening walk with the dogs. To test the manoeuvrability Simon took charge of the pushchair and two Alsatians, both the pushchair, Simon and the dogs stayed upright and he was able to push in a straight line and although it wasn't the easiest thing to do all managed quite well!
March the 13th 2013
March the 17th 2013
I had my first Cruz 'spot' while out and about this weekend. I have a bad habit of eyeing up other people's prams while I'm out (as I'm sure a lot of us do!) I've seen plenty of the UPPAbaby vista, but its the first time I've seen another Cruz. The lady obviously had good taste, as she had it in yellow as well! Hopefully this will be sign of more to come as I so far the Cruz has been brilliant for me!
March the 19th 2013
Had my first real niggle with the Cruz today, when we get it out the car or unfold when leaving the house, one side of the hood keeps becoming detached and flopping to one side, as you can (kinda) see in the picture. My other stroller used to do this and I imagine it can be quite a common problem when any pram is used a lot, I hope it doesn't become a bigger issue though.
March the 23rd 2013
There's been a lot more snow this weekend, first of all it was quite
manageable and the Cruz continued to do really well even over snowy
gravel, it was a bit rickety but even still enjoyed her 'Spring' walk!
Saturday on the other hand was an entirely different matter, it had really come down over night and to be honest I didn't really want to go out at all but had to walk to the end of estate to check the state of the main roads.
We tried the pushchair on the pavement at first but we really weren't getting anywhere there was just too much resistance and it wouldn't move forward so had to resort to pulling the pushchair rather than pushing and even had to walk on the road luckily there was literally no one out driving! The cruz's inability to be pushed today had no detriment to how I think about it over all as I really don't think it was built to be taken out in weather like today's, Eva however won't walk in the snow!
The weather hasn't been that great this bank holiday so we've been having as much indoor fun as we can with the family. We were out with my sister, my nephew and mum. As my nephew is now mostly walking we only had the one pushchair but as you can see it did pretty well at holding all the extra bags and coats even with this many things on there was no feeling like it was going to tip!
April the 5th 2013
Lovely weather this weekend to start getting out more walking with Eva. Here she is showing off her new sun glasses, still making use of the built in uv sun shade while she took a nap though, it's really useful to keep her happy and content when we're out.
April the 6th 2013
It's hard to believe I was updating about snow a few weeks ago, but its been so beautiful the last few days we jumped in the car as a family and headed down to see Eva's great Nanna for the weekend. Eva may be small but she doesn't travel light so armed with everything such a small person could need and overnight bags for three adults we jumped in my sisters car and were away. It's handy that the Cruz seat separates as it was a squash in the car boot, after a few attempts we got everything in with out the warning light going off that the boot catch wasn't quite shut!
April the 8th 2013
On our weekend away we were mostly based in Stroud Glos, it's very hilly
so I've been putting the break through its paces, as you can see the
main walk in the town is very steep and glad the Cruz can hold its own
when the pushchair is full.
It also works well holding mid bank, I had to take a short stop up this particular hill climb (I should really start exercising more!) but unlike other light strollers I've used it didn't move or start to turn round, or roll back, held excellently well!
April the 14th 2013
The Cruz has had Nanna's seal of approval this week. Although its only been a few years since I was being pushed round in a pram (hahaha) pushchairs have come on leaps and bounds. She commented on how much easier it was to push round that the 80's counterparts and could believe the size of the basket. Obviously there's a lot of difference between now and then but Nanna's happy to take charge of the Cruz.
April the 22nd 2013
We had a bit of a mixed bag of weather this weekend Saturday was brilliant sunshine and we really needed to use the sunshade Eva has suddenly become adverse to it though and won't even have the hood pulled up let along pull out the shade. Will have to look into other options if she keeps up hating it, that is if we have more than one day of summer...
April the 23rd 2013
We took the Cruz out for dinner today after some shopping the basket was bulging so we could really fold it down as there was no where for the bags to go. Luckily with the seat unit tipped bag we could took it away under the bar to make room for the other diners, for a perfect fit all we'd need it's the handle to shorten more!
April the 30th 2013
We nearly had a disaster with the rain cover this weekend. Daddy was
left in charge for one day, he only had to get through one day out
As you can see from the picture the rain cover is not quite idiot proof and daddy put it on backwards (it might not be too obvious from the picture but there is a hole cut to find the reclining handle and quite a large window in the front)
It was a very windy day and it was and it wasn't long before Simon was chasing it across the street! I would've paid to have not been at work!
He did get it right in the end and he does tell me Eva didn't get too damp..!
May the 8th 2013
Another trip out to the zoo today, we spent the day at Black Brook for a good part of the day Eva was walking so I'd gotten used pushing an empty pram around, it's actually quite weird doing this as its so light it makes you remember how easy it is to move around especially when going round a 'wildfowl walk' which would've been quite a bumpy ride for Eva.
We'd arrived later than expected so wanted to make the most of the day so the Cruz was a perfect refuge for a picnic lunch. The foot rest is easy adjusted to make a picnic table so we could carry on enjoying the day without a mammoth break!
Tired legs took over in the afternoon and the weather finally broke into a persistent drizzle we'd forgotten the rain cover and with Eva not letting us put the hood up we went inside to watch the penguins swimming. Eva as ever had the comfiest seat in the house and in forward facing mode didn't miss a thing.
May the 10th 2013
Eva is growing up! It seems aged ago my little bear was first testing the Cruz, she's 18 months now and still comfy and snug in the Cruz seat a lot of people have said that she may need a more light weight stroller as she grows however I still find I breeze getting her in and out, the straps don't restrict her and she loves being up high!
May the 14th 2013
This is Ewan! Eva's older cousin he is two this coming weekend so were
getting together for a trip out. He'd been eyeing up the Cruz all
afternoon and as the two toddlers were getting tired he popped in to
give it a spin.
He was comfy in the seat ever though his legs were hanging over the edge a little and he still had lots of wriggling room in the seat! Ewan kept kept cosy and dry under the rain cover as well, which was a hit with his mum and dad as he usually hates them and takes his chances with the elements!
May the 18th 2013
We're loving the bright yellow on the Cruz it really stands out in the crowd and does attract some sneaky stares! Now it's getting warmer though it is attracting some other flying friends hitching a lift! Maybe we'll be getting the insect net soon!
May the 21st 2013
Eva was happy today napping in the Cruz again the recline is easy to get her comfy and the sun shade is excellent and both keeping the sun out of her face and from stopping her nosying when she's over tired and trying to resist sleep! She always looks comfortable while asleep while out and about in her posh pram!
May the 26th 2013
Above is Eva having fun in the Cruz at Peppa Pig world! She went out for the day with her Auntie, Uncle and cousin while Simon and I had a grown ups day! Auntie Jo only had room for one pushchair for the two little ones in her car boot and chose to take the Cruz due to is superior basket size and she planned to use it to hold the picnic lunch as well as the usual change bags etc.
She also commented on how well the Cruz handles and how well made it felt compared to her usual pushchair and enjoyed having it for the day. Eva enjoyed sharing her ride with her cousin as well as they took it in turns riding and walking.
May the 28th 2013
As it was bank holiday yesterday we decided to have a 'cultured' day and
took Eva for a tour around the local museum. At the moment Eva is very
much in to walking so for most of the day the Cruz was used for holding
the bags, however as her legs are only little she still tires easily.
The large basket does make it easy for carrying all the load and its so light that its no effort pushing it empty, even Eva finds it easy to push herself!
After admiring the Reginald Mitchell designed Spitfire Eva did need to get back in to take in the Roman pottery and wildlife section, the turning circle of the Cruz made it easy to manoeuvre through all the exhibits and a good day had by all!
We've had a lots of sunshine lately so were starting to get a bit more use out of the sun shade again, Eva is quite good at getting it out on her own when the suns in her eyes, as well as when we're inside shopping (as in the pic!) Although in typical Eva style she doesn't always like having it pulled down when we're outside as I don't think she can see much and she's far too nosey for own good! Most of the time we have to sneak it down after she falls asleep.
June the 5th 2013
Well, I'm just going to come out and say it, but I think our summer has
finally arrived seeing as we've had more than two nice days in a row!
Today was the perfect opportunity for a picnic in the park.
The Cruz was great yet again to pack all of our stuff for the afternoon, picnic food, picnic blanket, change bag, peppa pig ball and coats (just in case!) and with room to spare.
Eva is quite good at getting in to the pushchair herself, with the brake on anyway...
...And very soon we were ready to go!
When we got to the park we tried out a feature I've somewhat neglected over the past few months. To try and make it a bit easier walking on the bumpy grass we locked the front wheels and to be honest it did make it a much smoother ride, you just have to remember to unlock them when you get back on to a smooth surface to turn successfully...
Eva certainly enjoyed her day running around the park and again once she was asleep on the ride back we made sure she could nap without any risk from the sun with the uv hood, but now we really do have to wait until she is asleep to pull it down as she really hates having her view restricted when awake!
June the 15th 2013
Eva had her day out with her Grandma today and managed to pick up various items of swag. The Cruz was slotted into the boot of Nanna's rover 75 as well as her new push about car and another brightly coloured plastic play set. Obviously in this car there would be plenty of room for shopping, luggage etc as well as the pushchair.
June the 16th 2013
We had a pitstop at a cafe this afternoon and we've taken to pushing the pushchair up to the table when Eva has a drink/snack. The Cruz is high up so its a great height for sitting at the table and she can't escape from the harness! Also it's easy to manoeuvre her back from the table when she's decided she's done eating and wants to throw everything on the floor... As you can see above!
June the 19th 2013
June the 26th 2013
It was a rather overcast afternoon today but we still ventured out to
the park with my sister and her two children so the could burn off some
energy. Eva and her cousin Gabriel were both on foot (at first) so daddy
with the task of pushing over the grass, it was a bit bumpy but the
empty pushchair made light work of it, maybe if Eva had been in it
would've been a bit more hard going.
Next surface to handle was the park bracken which was a bit harder to push and we did have a few snags on the few hidden rocks! Even though the wheels are small it still goes well and on the whole no major dramas.
Towards the end of the walk it was enviable that someone's legs would be
tired, Eva managed to solider on but it was all a bit much for Gabriel
so he commandeered the Cruz. As you can see he was very comfortable he's
a bit older that Eva and is a tall boy but very cosy and still room for
growth, if he'd been in much longer I think he would've happily fallen
July the 2nd 2013
I had a bit of a shock when I put Eva into the Cruz today, I was surprised how little room she had at the top of the seat unit, she's not an overly tall little girl but as you can see her legs are nearly reaching the end of the foot rest today as well. I will have to do some measuring of both child and pushchair and let you know how they both size up.
July the 7th 2013
It was a bit of a lonely day for the Cruz yesterday, Eva is spending so much time walking now that on short trips its mostly empty, however on a longer walker or trip though town when it's busy we defiantly still need it. It's so effortless to push and easy to set up its never a problem to still take it and to be honest I don't think I'd not what to do with my hands anymore if I wasn't pushing a pushchair when I was out!

Oh we do love to be beside the seaside! We had a wonderful day at the beach today and it probably wouldn't have ran so smoothly if we hadn't had the Cruz! When we arrived in Llandudno it was dinner time and the pushchair was perfect for Eva's picnicing before we let her loose on the beach, she's always happy to eat in her seat, its easy to clear of crumbs afterwards and its much easier than trying to get her to sit still on a bench! As we walked to one end of the pebbly beach where we had parked, we did realise that we were in the wrong place and the sandy beach we had aimed for was around a five minute drive, luckily there was a small train we could take to get there. The Cruz was loaded up to its maximum capacity with bucket and spades, drinks, football, towels etc etc etc...... And we had to fold it down... Once we had re packed all out bags it's easy to get folded down and the catch holds well so it's never going to spring open in transit and it was packed into its own carriage!
Once we departed the train the beach was eventually in sight! We had a bit of a walk and then quickly found that the only access to the sand was over a wall, however Simon did manage to lift the loaded Cruz (excluding baby!) over the wall and on to the sand, making it look ever so light! Simon then was pushing over the sand, he locked the front wheels but it was very hard going and eventually had to drag the pushchair as the sand was too fine and it was just getting stuck! Once we'd found a spot the Cruz was the bag holder, changing station, table, towel rack and we managed to contain everything and amazingly not everything ended up caked in sand! I was a bit nervous however leaving my posh pram on the sand while we enjoyed the water and couldn't help glancing back nearly every ten seconds to make sure no one had made off with it!

Oh my gosh... It's hot! I think everyone is feeling it but Eva
especially hasn't been doing too well and we've been avoiding spending
too long outside. However sometimes needs must and we have found
ourselves with a worked up cranky baby! So much so she's being trying to pull the sun shade and uv part down and
cover herself up for a nice but of shade and to keep the sun out of her
eyes, this must be bad as previously she's not been a fan of the hood
and always pushes it back! Shade down... Happy girl! Thank you Cruz!

Another beautiful sunny morning for another day out! On the train again today, Eva prefers a seat and to tell us what she can see out of the windows now rather than sitting in the Cruz, so it gets stored out of the way today. The break holds fast so it doesn't slip around as the train winds round the bends and its compact enough that it's not blocking the doors fully, as it is quite a pain to fold down, not because if the mechanise or pram itself but because we always have so much stuff in the basket and have to do a lot of repacking! Eva obviously knows where to go when she's tired though because she'll ask now to go back in the Cruz for a nap or just for a moment to relax, she's very comfortable in there and uses it just to get away from it all!

Out shopping today in Liverpool and it was very very busy! Eva was safely strapped in the Cruz forward facing and seemed to be enjoying the day. Cruz was handling well through the crowds, it pretty much glides round shops and over the concrete pavements allowing you to swerve out of the way of the more absent minded pedestrian...Fast forward an hour or so and we suddenly had a hot, cranky, tired and restless little girl, who most defiantly didn't want to be shopping anymore! We quickly took advantage of being able to swap from forward to parent facing, we popped Eva out for a quick cuddle with daddy, pressed down the catches and had turned the seat in seconds. Being able to do this makes it a lot easier to then be able to engage Eva when we're out, being able to talk to her directly makes her a lot calmer and makes for a much easier day! (Chocolate stars also help a bit as well!)

Dinner al fresco in the sun today, we picked a small cafe and it looked lovely but turned out they didn't have any high chairs, however it did mean we could just pull the Cruz up to the table and sit outside. With the seat in the most upright position Eva managed to get close enough to the table and the foot rest folds down to make room for her legs and was able to eat (or rather pick) at her dinner! Cruz to the rescue again!
Eva is becoming more independent and defiantly knows what she wants. Today she went to the Trafford centre with Nana and Daddy and insisted on spending the day going round in one of the toy push cars that were available to hire (in between walking!) The Cruz looking quite lonely as it was chained up with a fellow abandoned stroller while there owners were off shopping! The Cruz is still a must when ever we go out or the day but our big girl is determined to walk more and more!

Today was another day out on the train, it was a bit busier than normal and the pram/disabled areas were taken, so I had to do a last minute fold down, in the aisle, in front of everyone! Luckily the cruz didn't need much room to fold down and the motion is very smooth and easy to complete. I managed to get both buttons clicked and slide the pram down into the fold without hitting anyone else! We then found a spare seat and had to prop the pram up in a seat area as no where else to put it, again as the fold is small it wasn't a problem keeping it in place.

Out today at Walton park which was a great day to test the wheels out on variety of terrains. First was a little tarmac, which I know the cruz handles well a little bumpy due to the pine needles and lose stones but very easy to push. The ground got a little more leafy which again was mostly a smooth ride apart from a few hidden stones etc that caused us to jolt as you can see after nearly a year of usage our wheels are wearing well and coping fine! Then came the cobbles...these were very bumpy and this part of Eva's ride was not that comfortable, the cobbles were big so we were all over the place quite hard to push right to get over and a good job Eva wasn't asleep...Final test of the day was over the emaculate lawns these were very smooth so again no problems here and since we've learnt to long the wheels on longer grass, that's no longer a problem either.

Today we were in the Liverpool World Museum. Eva was determined to walk so we took the Cruz to their handy little cloak room where we were able to tie it up! We though that would make the day much easier however on leaving the room Eva decided to become very attached to the pushchair and had to be picked up and removed from it! Needless to say she didn't do much walking for the rest of the day.

Ice cream in the pushchair was never going to be my finest idea... But it saved Eva running round with it, dropping it, covering the floor etc. The dripping on the fabric was inevitable, a quick wipe down with a baby wipe got rid of the worse but it did have to be tackled again when we got home. A quick once over with a soapy cloth and we were back to normal, minimum effort to clean up once again!

We've been using the Cruz now for nearly a year and only just needed to adjust the hood. Eva's just starting to come up over the top and I think she was boosted up a bit by sitting on her blanket! Here you can see the Cruz hood attached to the frame in the lowest position......when extended there is a good inch and a half to two inches of extra height.
Here you can see the extra space given at the top of the seat. And Eva is looking a lot better in the seat!
We'll the year seems to have flown by and I can't believe how much Eva has grown! It's been an excellent opportunity to have been using such a fabulous pushchair and it's made our trips out, naps and much more so much easier. All three have us have loved the Uppababy Cruz, Eva has been comfy and content which make for a happy mummy and daddy, we've hardly been able to fault it! The cruz defiantly gets our seal of approve and would highly recommend to anyone! Thank you Pushchair Expert and Uppababy.
