BabyStyle Prestige Review
Developed to provide high levels of security, practicality, comfort and style from birth to around 3 years old, in the most convenient possible package, the Prestige Collection from BabyStyle has been put to the test by our expert review team.
We already know that BabyStyle is a master at producing practical pushchairs meeting the specific needs of parents and their children. We've seen it in the Oyster 3 and Oyster Zero. But the newly revamped Prestige Collection offers functionality and substance with a mix of classic elegance and contemporary style.
What's in the box?
We have been reviewing the Special Nimbus Edition of the Prestige. This 13-piece package includes the Active chassis, carrycot, seat unit, Prestige infant car seat with its own raincover, ISOFIX base and adaptors, and fully coordinating accessories - footmuff, changing bag and mat, parasol, handlebar winter muff, blanket, insect net and pram raincover. It comes in a choice of Nimbus Grey or Nimbus Black colourways for the all-in price of £899.
You can also purchase the Prestige as five piece package, where you receive the pram body, pushchair seat unit, parasol, footmuff, changing bag with changing mat and safety mattress and a choice of chassis options: Active Grey, Active White or Classic Chrome. This is from £659.
The Classic chassis, which is a highly sprung traditional-style pram frame, comes with the 12" Chrome Air filled wheels, but there is also the option of upgrading to 14″ Chrome Air Pneumatic tyres, available in Black or White. These are available at £20 per set if ordered with the initial purchase (£25 per wheel if purchased separately).
The Prestige infant car seat is available at an additional £89 and requires Prestige multi car seat adaptors, which are £19.50 per set.

BabyStyle Prestige Review: ChassisThere are two available chassis options for this traditionally inspired pram. The Active chassis with a contemporary edge and the Classic chassis, which gives a nostalgic nod to the big, ‘bouncy' perambulators of days of old. We are reviewing the Special Edition Nimbus Grey.
The Prestige Active is a lovely modern twist on a classic pram. It stands proud and gives the feeling from behind the handlebar that it is capable of almost anything.
We immediately fell head over heels for the air-filled tyres, which rolled over every terrain we visited with ease. We also became pretty impressed by the gentle rocking motion of the pram and pushchair, which was an absolute saviour at times helping with getting baby to sleep! It is also worth pointing out that the wheels can be removed in the blink of an eye - especially useful after muddy park walks and for storing in the boot of your car (as we found out!).
If an adjustable handlebar is high up on your list of priorities then the Prestige ticks this box. It alters in height to suit different drivers and it feels pretty lovely, too, seeing as it is covered in an attractive leather-style material. Testing the Prestige in the winter months, we were so pleased to see the included handmuff with fur trim that was included with the package. It keeps your hands so cosy and warm that we were often left debating who would be pushing the pram!
The centrally located foot pedal of the brake blends in seamlessly with the chassis but is just the right size to find easily in a hurry.
If we had one bone to pick with this good-looking pram then it would have to be the basket. It wasn't the size that we found an issue (in fact, it's quite big) but the access. The bars of the chassis, combined with the base of the carrycot or seat and the strap you use for folding the pram, made the access from all angles difficult, meaning we were only able to fit scrunched-up coats, hats and gloves in the basket - none of the bottles and toy cars we usually throw in! Having said that, the included changing bag is a great size so we kept all of the smaller items to hand in that.
BabyStyle Prestige Review: Carrycot and Seat
The hard-bodied carrycot was the first feature of the pram that really caught our eye. It looks luxurious and comfortable and seemed bigger and more substantial (in the most positive of ways) than the carrycots of many other prams. It is large, spacious and cosy.
It's super-simple to pop on and off the chassis with the easy grip levers on each side of the carrycot. When you remove it from the fame and place it on a hard standing, you will notice it has a gentle rock to it which was really soothing for baby. Alternatively, you can fold down the small feet to make it stand stable instead.
A breathable mattress is included inside the carrycot and the linings are soft and cosy, so there's no need to go out and buy separate sheets. There is also a snugly fitting and beautifully embroidered pram apron, as well as tailor-made raincovers and mosquito nets.
One feature of the carrycot that gained a big thumbs-up from everyone is the ability to adjust the angle of the backrest in the carrycot. An amazing option if you have a reflux-prone baby, or one that likes to see a bit more as they get older.
The hood on the carrycot is much the same as the hood on the seat unit, and covered with the same quality fabrics. They really are stunning! When your baby no longer needs to be lying flat in the carrycot, you can move on to the equally luxurious and functional seat unit.
We were immediately struck by the gorgeous detailing on the seat unit, especially when it is paired with any of the many included accessories. The footmuff and apron are again very useful pieces of kit when using the pushchair on colder days. They aren't flimsy like some other free accessories, but thick, padded and really cosy and warm for baby.
The whole seat attaches and detaches from the frame using the same style of easy-grip buttons as the carrycot. Pressing these buttons in and flipping the seat from forward to parent-facing positions was very easy with minimal fiddling, which is great if you want to change direction while out and about. The seat unit reclines using a one-handed lever to the rear. As it is a pramette-style seat, the recline is totally flat with the end result being a comfortable space for growing children to have a good sleep. When the seat is reclined fully and the adjustable calf rest is pulled up into its horizontal position, there is easily enough room for a toddler to curl up and sleep soundly. There's no doubt that the seat unit is roomy! It is brilliantly wide and very deep.
The hood is pretty to look at and the classy woven fabrics are clearly of the quality we expect from a brand like BabyStyle. It extends to give fab coverage and is great for sheltering baby. The reinforced visor on the front of the hood gives it a lovely shape and adds to the already-excellent coverage. The seat comes complete with a fully pivoting bumper bar, which can easily be removed on either side of the pushchair seat.
If you want your whole package to be coordinating, you can also purchase the Prestige car seat in the same fabric choice as your seat and carrycot. It is a luxury Group 0+ car seat which can be fitted with a seat belt or ISOFIX, making it really easy to pop in and out of the car.
BabyStyle Prestige Review: Fold
A fuss-free fold is a must for many parents, and the Prestige has a fold that others of the same style will be envious of. Simply pull the central carry handle, which triggers the fold mechanism. When you pick the pushchair up by the handle, it all folds into place and can be put over your shoulder with ease. Of course, it is a classic-style pram, so folds in two parts as you have to remove the carrycot or seat unit first. It is also slightly larger than other pushchairs by nature so, as you might expect, the fold package is large as well. It's not too big to handle, but if you have a tiny car boot then you may have issues there.
Prestige by BabyStyle Review: Conclusion
BabyStyle's tagline of ‘traditional strolling beautifully redefined' is definitely justified with the Prestige! It is the pram that mothers dream of pushing as a little girl. It has fairytale looks but cleverly integrates the contemporary functions and styles that modern-day parenting requires. The fine fabrics and attention to detail of the included accessories gives a great luxury end product for parents and babies. The large carrycot will last baby for as long as it is needed and certainly provides a cosy and safe place for a newborn. The roomy seat will also stand the test of time and carry your baby right through to early childhood if needed. Despite the tricky access to the basket, we've been really impressed by the Prestige.
We give the Prestige by BabyStyle 4.5 out of 5 stars
