Ali Chapman 'Living With' the phil&teds Verve
I'm a mum of 3 boys age 14, 10 and 8 months. I'm currently on maternity leave from my role as an outreach worker and keep myself busy (should say busier!) by writing a parenting blog. I live by the sea on the Devonshire Jurassic Coast where I spend most of my days out walking the dog and exercising the children! I've been a bit of a buggyholic in the past but have managed to curb it this time round, although I do suffer pushchair envy now & then.
Living With Review
First impressions began as soon as the parcel arrived. The box wasn't huge which was promising although quite heavy.
It took approximately 30 minutes to put together as it's only a case of
attaching the mud guards, wheels, hood & bumper bar. I managed to do
most of it with only having to look at the instructions for the
The only bug bear was that the instructions were placed inside the folded buggy and I needed them to work out how to unfold it however, after finding the side catch and then fiddling around with the side buttons it unfolded and I was able to begin assembling it properly.
I was surprised how big it was, pushing it around the house, I felt quite childlike! I'm 5ft 3 so I guess I'm on the shorter side though. My husband loved it straight away, it doesn't catch his feet like our quinny.
This will definitely see you through to toddlerhood. My 8 month old looks tiny sat it it!
Here are my favourite points so far;
1. Very easy and light to push
2. Lies back completely flat
3. Huge shopping basket
4. Quick release wheels
5. Well made, feels very sturdy
6. Folds down quite flat and stands on the wheels so no fabric touches the floor.
7. The straps can be clicked in to the crotch support one at a time so no wrestling them together with a wriggly baby
8. Straps are really quick & easy to adjust
Not so great points so far
1. Large gaps behind the hood when in a recline position
2. Bumper bar has to be taken off both sides to get baby in & out.
3. Hood feels quite flimsy.
4. Very heavy to lift
I can see straight away that this is going to be perfect for hauling everything down to the beach this summer. Love love love so far!
It's been a week living with our phil&teds verve and I'm slowly getting used to its size, I've worked out why the hood felt a little flimsy, it's so you can do this:
Which was really useful on a windy day.

We used the raincover for the first time this week. I'm really impressed with the zip function as it means there's a really good fit and doesn't flap about in the wind. There are two parts to it which I didn't realise at first, but this keeps the back 'gappy' space between the hood & pushchair covered. It comes in a handy bag that attaches to the handle bar so I can keep it with me all the time.
After trying to fit a cosy toes unsuccessfully I finally worked out what I had to do! Under the padded shoulder straps are the easiest clips for adjusting & being able to thread them through a seat liner. Super quick & easy, just wish I'd found them sooner!

We had a great shopping trip with our phil&teds this week. The shopping basket is the perfect size & it was so easy to navigate around the streets.

My toddler niece test drove the Verve last week. It was the perfect size for a toddler - she usually objects to going in her pushchair but was so comfy and kept asking to go in and even had a mammoth afternoon nap with it in the recline position.
It's supposed to be spring! We've been out and about with the cosy toes still on. He's so snug in there though so no complaints, must be comfy as he gets excited going back in after a quick park stop.

First trip to the beach this year and the Verve was a dream to pull over the pebbles compared to my other buggies. Knowing I wasn't going to puncture the tyres was a relief too!

Our first proper sunny day test drive - the moveable hood was great at keeping baby shaded. The only problem I found though was the gap at the back when the seat was reclined; it took some clever body positioning to keep the sun off his head!

Beautiful day out with the verve today. We started off walking the dog down the beach. The handle & easy push wheels making holding a dog lead & pushing a buggy effortless.

We live in a very hilly area but I'm not finding it a problem negotiating these mountains with the Verve.

Stopped off for a spot of lunch with a view today. We sat on a slight incline, but as the brake (situated on the handle) is so good at locking the wheels, I had no worries about the Verve rolling off on its own.
We took a little walk through a local park with the Verve this week and even in the grass it was a dream to push. I've found some 4 wheelers couldn't navigate easily over bumpy ground & twigs but there were no obstacles to stop us today.

You may have noticed I've put a sheepskin liner in our Verve. This is more to do with what my baby is used to as he's always had it, however I feel I should point out that the seat is really padded and squishy so don't feel you need to get one and the great thing is that a seat liner is quick & easy to take out with the quick release strap clips.

One of the features which is becoming more and more handy with our Verve are the quick release wheels. When putting it in the boot of the car - to make extra space or if they're muddy - all you have to do is push in the middle / central button and they come straight off. It really couldn't be any quicker or easier.

Rain didn't stop play this week, luckily there was no problem with the raincover steaming up as I left the second half off so there was lots of air circulating.
Now my little one's walking and wearing shoes I've realised how handy this plastic foot guard is. It's so much easier to keep the Verve clean with just a wipe over.

We're off on our hols and I was wondering how I was going to get everything packed in the car but forgot the wheels all come off.
You just push in the metal in the middle and they pop off in seconds and push straight back in.
What an amazing design!

We're off on a mini break and trying to pack the car was a struggle but by taking all the wheels off and bumper bar we managed to get everything in. (And it made a great climbing frame!)

Sleeping like a baby! We got a long 90 minute nap out and about today with the seat laying flat. I'm sure he must've been more comfortable to have slept that long.
We've just returned from a trip to Center Parcs. The huge shopping basket came in handy so many times & with it being so light, I had no problem pushing it up the boardwalk. Although we did have help sometimes from our little chap!

Well loaded up! As you can see we loaded up our Verve ready for a day out - as well as the baby, we managed to transport a beach bag full of towels, packed lunches and still had room to drape the changing bag over the handles (and no tipping thanks to the design!)

I'm sure my baby just thinks this is a bed on wheels, it takes no time for him to nod off when we're out & about!
July the 20th 2015
Kicking back and chilling while he watches the world go by! I've taken the lambs wool lining off as the padded seat is just as comfy on its own!
July the 27th 2015
It's nearly been 6 months and I'm happy to report that we have yet to suffer a puncture! The suspension on the front tyres are still absolutely perfect too, despite being put through its paces on the bumpy pavements.
The sun completely took us by surprise today so I was overly grateful for the hood which I sort the time moving around to keep my son out of the suns harmful ray. It really was amazing.

Loving how versatile this buggy is, we loaded up for a day on the beach then baby had an extra long sleep with the seat right back!
Huge shopping basket which is easily assessable.
Super light to push and easy to manoeuvre as well as get up and down steps and kerbs.
The hood is really handy for keeping your baby shaded and as the seat lies flat, my baby slept longer when out and about, especially with the super comfy padded seat.
