Unicorn pushchairs, flamingo strollers & llama car seats!
Unicorns have taken over. Elegant and mystical or rainbow-bright and cute, they are EVERYWHERE, and their popularity shows no sign of waning any time soon. But hot on their sparkly hooves are a tidal wave of mermaids and flamingos, and the colourful tassel-filled charge of herds of llamas. We're noticing a surprising number of sloths moving (slowly) onto the high street now too.
These days, of course, if it's on notebooks, blankets, T-shirts and lunchboxes, then - sooner or later - it'll be available on a pushchair (and quite possibly a car seat) too.
So if your little one is a unicorn addict or flamingo fan (or you want an excuse to embrace the trend!), they can travel in style...
First, there were unicorns. As you'd expect from the ever-quirky, bright and colourful Cosatto, it was one of the first to market with its Magic Unicorns collection. Bold, and emblazoned with rainbows, parents can choose matching car seats, pushchairs and highchairs in this print. Or if just a touch of unicorn is enough for you, there's a coordinating changing bag available too!
Then there's My Babiie; slightly more muted than Cosatto, this collection of pushchairs, highchairs and accessories is baby pink, super-girlie and very sweet.
Like unicorns, these elegant pink beauties can currently be found on everything from stationery to homeware to lifestyle accessories… and baby gear.
Never one to be left behind in the trend stakes, My Babiie is proud owner to a flamingo-print stroller, which is part of the collection by TV personality and former TOWIE star Samantha Faiers. This isn't necessarily what you think when you hear ‘flamingo' - Sam's neat navy design is a break away from the usual pink, but it's undeniably chic and striking.
From fellow former TOWIE name Amy Childs comes the flamingo Roma travel system. Light pink, white and baby blue with natural rather than cute or stylised artwork, this is also surprisingly grown-up, but as feminine as they come.
New mum-of-two Amy Childs is on a roll as she's right on-trend with her gorgeous blue and grey toucan-print Roma travel system, too.
Toucans are having their moment and we can't deny that we're head over heels with the latest Bugaboo by We Are Handsome collection. If you're a mum or dad who really wants to make a statement, then this is the one for you. Made up of sun canopies, a pushchair liner, a bag and a top set for the Bugaboo Donkey, this is a great way to update your Bugaboo and give it a fabulously tropical vibe for summer days and holidays.
Yet another one of those ‘everywhere' trends is mermaids, and, as always, Cosatto was right there at the forefront when it launched its cute Mini Mermaid range. It's bright, colourful and girlie and, although it might not be for everyone, you can be sure that little girls everywhere dream of having a car seat or highchair like this!
Yet again, Cosatto is first with the latest mega-trend. This year, it really has been all about the llamas – and the brand's Llamarama pattern has been right there in the mix. Purple, yellow, pink and turquoise, this is a great print to hide any spillages, not to mention that it's totally now!
So what's next in the world of print? Well, Mountain Buggy is launching its fourth Chinese Zodiac-inspired design for 2019 with the limited edition Year of the Pig hood fabric. Following on from 2018's shimmering Year of the Dog print, it's a stand-out, quirky look, but we're not convinced that pigs are going to be the new unicorns just yet!
