Pushchair Expert's weekend in Harrogate!
The Harrogate Nursery Trade Fair is a place for retailers and press to meet all of the industry's brands and see what new products they have to offer! We have been busy around the show finding out what new pushchairs and car seats you guys need to look out for this year.
First stop was the Italian brand Peg Perego! Known for their quality travel systems, Peg Perego now offer something for everyone. We particularly liked their Pliko Mini stroller that is coming in June. At £195, the fabrics used are gorgeous. It's suitable from birth up to a higher weight limit of 20kg and is really easy to fold.
The Ypsi is a new pushchair with a sized down chassis that still has a great sized seat. The chassis is only 51cm wide and weighs 7.3kg. You can get the pushchair with seat and carrycot for £730 and there's a matching Prima Viaggio i-Size infant carrier to use with it too. The one handed fold makes it a practical option for parents while looking great as well.
The new double side-by-side stroller from Roma Prams is due to be released in the summer and will be available in grey or black. Each seat is independent with its own hood and recline. As the seats lay flat, you can use it from birth and there will be a newborn cocoon available as an extra too. The basket is a great size and runs under the whole pushchair. At 68cm wide, you shouldn't struggle through doorways or in shops and it's easy to lift and transport with the bumper bar without bending down. It will have a price of £250.
Lots new to see from Cosatto! As well as the Paloma Faith collection that we've shown you recently, Cosatto had the new Wow XL on show and two other pushchairs hidden away in a secret back room! The Wow XL is a tandem pushchair with 57 combinations and the four different adaptors that are used to create these positions are included. Once the seats and carrycots are removed, the chassis folds down into a flat parcel. We are impressed with the ten year guarantee and love that there isn't a position that you need missing! There's usually a compromise with tandem pushchairs.
Although we can't show you pictures of the new pushchairs, we can let you know that they are the Cosatto Giggle 3 and Giggle Quad! The Giggle has had lots of improvements, including leatherette handle covering, a pullout sun visor on the hoods, matching wheel caps and a longer, wider carrycot! There are six beautiful new colourways, each with their own matching plush toy. As you may have guessed, the Giggle Quad has four wheels! The Giggle 3 will be £499.95 and the Giggle Quad £535.95.
We love the quality and affordability of Joie car seats. To allow anyone to afford an i-Size tested infant carrier, Joie are bringing out the i-Snug. At £90, it is a more basic car seat that has a rethread harness. The memory foam interior will keep baby comfortable though and uses the same pushchair adaptors as other Joie car seats. It is suitable from birth to 75cm, which is slightly smaller than their other infant carriers.
A new pushchair for Joie is the Verstatrax. Coming in four different colours, the Versatrax is a 4 in 1, lightweight pushchair that can be used with a ramble carrycot, seat and infant carrier. The sprung seat is large and comfortable with a full recline. It's a great price at £300 for the pushchair and £100 for the ramble carrycot.
The Nuna Norr is based on the popular Rebl Plus car seat, but is i-Size and Swedish Plus Tested - the best testing around. This means that it only rear faces and is from birth to 105cm, around four years old. The inside of the seat has a soft insert and cutaways in the head rest which helps keep the child's head in the best position in a collision. The RRP for the Norr is £350.
Everyone knows egg, and we were excited to see the seven new colours for this year! There were also quite a few sample colours that may come to fruition too! Camo Sand, Platinum, Country Green, Just Black, Carbon Grey, Cool Mist and Deep Navy are the confirmed new colours. The Diamond Black, Shadow Black and Quantum Grey are sticking around for longer too!
We were also given a preview of the prototype for their new travel stroller, the Caiman. Small folding but with a good sized seat, we look forward to seeing more.
The Quail has had a revamp with new colours being released.
The Hybrid 2 has had an upgrade and now has a black chassis with a very different design to the seat, including a new harness and new wheels. There are four colours to choose from and you can still upgrade it to a tandem pushchair by purchasing the tandem kit for £50. The price is still £499.
The new baby brother for the Hybrid 2 is the Hybrid Metro! Based on the same chassis, but smaller, it has a lie flat seat and comes with height adaptors to raise the seat unit. The hood is also adjustable and moves up and down. The price is £399.
We love the Oyster 3 in the new black on black! It looks stunning and we're sure it will be popular.
The Prestige looks set to receive some attention too, with an update to chassis colours and fabric designs. Can't wait to see more!
The Venicci stand was full of new designs for this year! Essentially the same chassis, your choice comes in with the fabrics and finishes. While simplifying some of their other ranges, they have added Valdi Matte Leather, Valdi Shine Leather, Valdi Silver Collection, Lanco and Asti. Depending on the design you choose, prices are from £499-£819.
A relatively new pushchair company on the scene is Invictus. Designed in Belgium and made in Europe, the Invictus comes as a 3-in-1 for a great price of £799 for standard designs. This includes Chassis, Carrycot, Seat Unit, Car Seat, Changing Bag, Raincover, Mosquito Net, Apron, Cup Holder and Footmuff! We liked the high positioning of the seat and carrycot and the large covered, magnetic basket. It's easy to fold and only 56cm wide. There are four standard colours to choose from, as well as special editions and even an incredibly light carbon fibre frame!
Ark is a brand new company that has designed a pushchair to use natural fabrics against baby's skin, they also want to reduce the use of chemicals. Most of the pushchair seat and carrycot use a natural cotton that can all be washed and the mattress is made from sheep wool doubled over to make a comfortable space for newborns. The carrycot features temperature regulation thanks to the large air flow panels at the top and bottom and in the hood. Suspension is in the chassis, but also in the wheel itself, as it is made from lots of small holes. The RRP will be £899.
Mee-go have a few new products coming out soon! The Santino is a full package that includes nearly everything you could need for only £650, or £750 for the special edition designs. They also have a more budget friendly version called the Plumo which is £599 and includes an ISOFIX base too.
We hope this has given you a good insight into all of exciting new products coming this year! Please let us know what you're looking forward to seeing in the flesh!
