What's new? The 2018 Baby Show at Olympia
The annual three-day Baby Show event at Olympia in London played host to thousands of expectant parents, a scattering of pregnant celebs and a few exciting launches - plus a first glimpse on British soil at some of the brand-new or coming-soon products revealed last month at the Kind+Jugend nursery fair in Cologne.
We've been waiting for the Thule Sleek for a while and now it's here! A single-to-tandem combining luxury finishes and urban-friendly features with the all-terrain capabilities we expect from Thule. Full written and video review of this one in the very near future...
BabaBing is known for its attractive and affordable changing bags, baby bouncers and other nursery accessories, but its brand-new travel system, the BabaBing Raffi, certainly looks the part. We were impressed by the look and feel of the fabrics - luxurious, classy and a bit different from the norm.
We've been talking about the Oyster3 from BabyStyle for so long that it's almost a surprise that it's only officially launching now. If you haven't seen it yet, prepare to be amazed! It's on a whole different scale to the Oyster2 - grander, roomier, taller - and yet somehow folds up smaller. Magic.
Talking of size, the brand-new Quinny Hubb single-to-tandem boasts a simply enormous shopping basket and with its chunky frame and robust tyres, looks like it will eat up the miles for breakfast. We particularly like the option of the bamboo hop-on jump seat instead of a full second seat unit for older children.
At the other end of the spectrum, the super-compact, lightweight and seriously luxurious Mima zigi stroller now comes as part of a from-birth package with a lovely coordinated carrycot and car seat adapters, as well as possibly the best raincover we've encountered, included for the £650 price tag.
While the zigi gives its grey fabrics a space age twist with its silver highlights and clear wheels, every possible shade of this practical, unisex and forever-on-trend colour was still in evidence at Olympia.
Luckily, some brands can always be relied upon to brighten up a room!
The Cosatto Woosh XL is the new big sibling of the popular Woosh stroller, bringing the potential to use it with a coordinating soft carrycot or as a travel system with the addition of car seat adapters and a 0+ Dock infant carrier. It'll take you from birth to 25kg, but still weighs in at under 7kg and has a compact one-handed fold. In true Cosatto style, the fabrics - especially the underside of the hood for your little passenger - are vibrant, and each of the three designs comes with a super-cute and contemporary-style cuddly toy to attach to the bumper bar. It's due to hit stores by the start of December, priced at £279.95, and our guess is that the Mister Fox pattern will continue to fly across the range.
Those wanting a look at the upcoming Wow tandem pushchair will have to wait a little longer. It is expected to be available next spring.
The iCandy Peach Nectar is certainly eye-catching, with the bright teal zips and detailing giving it an up-to-the-minute edge that is distinct from any other yellow pushchairs out there.
Also hard to miss was the Micralite FastFold all-terrain stroller in Festival Special Edition, from £400. This redesigned pushchair retains the stand-out features of the original Micralite, including the hammock-style seat and unmistakable shape, but boasts a wealth of improvements.
As ever at the Baby Show, there were a few familiar faces checking out the latest products. Celebrity spotters will have seen Love Island's Tyra Carr enjoying a demonstration of the BabaBing Raffi before taking it for a test-drive herself, Casey Batchelor and daughter Florence trying the Mima zigi for size, and McFly's Danny Jones with his wife Georgia Horsley taking son Cooper round the event in the Joolz Geo. Plus new mum-of-two Amy Childs was showcasing her latest designs with Roma Prams.
